Pursuant to Executive Order No. 137, “Declaring the Month of July of Every Year as the National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM)”, the Provincial Government – Cavite Office of Public Safety (PG-COPS) spearheaded and supported the observance of the NDCM by undertaking various activities that revolved around the 2015 NDCM theme “Pamilya at Pamayanang Handa, Katuwang sa Pag-unlad ng Bansa”. The said Order is aimed to increase the awareness of every Filipino to the ever threatening disasters for a better appreciation of the government’s disaster preparedness programs. The same statute provides that it is also imperative to empower and reinforce the capacity of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) at all levels to ensure a coherent, integrated, proficient and responsive emergency management system in the country.
The Provincial Government of Cavite thru the Provincial Library headed by Ms. Concepcion P. Villanueva celebrated Buwan ng Wika with the theme Filipino: Wikang Pambansang Kaunlaran through Patimpalak sa Katutubong Sayaw, a contest for preschoolers held at Barangay Inocencio Covered Court, Trece Martires City on August 26, 2015 participated in by 18 Day Care Centers in the city.
In their welcome messages, Provincial Board Secretary Michelle F. Alcid, City Councilor Angelito M. Villanueva, and Ms. Sally de Sagun Romen, Executive Assistant of Mayor Melan de Sagun, were united in saying that the use of our national language and teaching it to children signify love for our native tongue and for the country as a whole.
To foster camaraderie and unity among the local legislators of the province of Cavite, Vice Governor Jolo Revilla spearheaded the 1st Cavite Local Legislators Summit last August 19, 2015 at Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City. The summit dubbed as “Strengthening Governance in the Province through Local Legislation” was attended by provincial board members, vice mayors and city and municipal sanggunian members of the province.
