Cavite micro, small and medium enterprises are in for greater opportunities with the favorable business atmosphere in the province and strong government support witnessed in the recent “CAVITE MSMEs Business Conference: Preparing for the 2015 ASEAN Economic Integration” held on July 24, 2014 at the Sarial Ballroom of De La Salle University in the city of Dasmariñas. True to its theme, local MSMEs are being geared up with enhanced competitiveness not just against other local enterprises but giants in neighboring countries.
The event which was organized by the Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Office and Cavite Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council (CaSMEDC) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC), Cavite Coopreneurs and Surety Fund (CCSF) and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Cavite was participated by local entrepreneurs, Business Administration and Marketing students of DLSU-D, business leaders, educators and local leaders in the province.
DLSU-D President, Bro. Gus Boquer warmly welcomed attendees and was overwhelmed that MSMEs chose DLSU-D tobe part of the event.
Caviteño soldiers again brought pride to the province for winning in the prestigious 2014 Search for The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) for their unprecedented display of excellence in military service.
TOPS is an annual search jointly undertaken by Metrobank Foundation, Inc. and the Rotary Club of Makati Metro that recognizes and pays tribute to the outstanding examples of gallantry, dedication, professionalism and integrity among members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). This year’s Final Board of Judges was chaired by Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara and co-chaired by Regional Governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Mujiv Sabbihi Hataman.
The Provincial Government of Cavite (PGC) through its Provincial Health Office and Provincial Nutrition Council celebrated the 40th Nutrition Month on July 28, 2014 at the Auditorium, 3rd Floor, CCCPH Building, Trece Martires City. This year’s theme for the Nutrition Month Celebration “Kalamidad Paghandaan: Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan!,” unites different government agencies in the province to promote nutrition during emergencies and disaster occurrence.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. George Repique and Provincial Nutrition Officer Angeles Peñalba both gave emphasis on the advocacy activities on nutrition in times of disaster particularly on infant and child feeding in emergency situations owing to the fact during these times, children become more vulnerable to micronutrient deficiencies.
Likewise, Dr. Repique led the Ceremonial Turnover of nutrition fortified food items together with Mr. Alvin Mojica and Ms. Sandy Peralta for the Supplemental Feeding Program in priority municipalities including Ternate, Rosario, Noveleta, Maragondon and GMA.
It was a triumphant battle for Lyca Gairanod, a nine year old child from Amaya, Tanza, Cavite who made the whole province proud when she bagged the trophy as the first grand champion of The Voice Kids Philippines, a singing contest airing on ABS-CBN.
