National Flag Day is observed every 28th day of May in commemoration of the victory of the Filipinos in the battle of Alapan in Imus, Cavite, where the Philippine Flag was first unfurled. To celebrate this historic event, the Provincial Tourism Development Office teamed up with SM Event Management in hosting a flag exhibit at SM City Bacoor Event Center on May 28, 2015.
The exhibit showcasing the evolution of Philippine flags used during the revolution and its story was formally opened through a ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by Dir. Ludovico Badoy of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Ms. Liberty Herrera, Cavite Tourism Officer, Ms. Kaye Sanchez, PIO-Bacoor, Councilor Darlon J. Sayarot of Imus City and Chairman on Committee on Tourism, Mr. Aquino Garcia, President of Cavite Tourism Board and Mr. Sherwin Bryan Cua, SM Bacoor Mall Manager.
This month of May, the Department of Agriculture celebrates the contribution of the Agri-fishery laborers to the growth of Philippine agriculture and present economic status of the country. In Cavite, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturists (OPA) in collaboration with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (BFARMC) and the different city/municipal IFARMC’s of the province, conducted the 2nd Provincial Month of the Ocean Celebration on May 26, 2015 at Cavite State University- Naic Campus, Bucana Naic, Cavite.
With the theme, “Karagatan Pangalagaan Ating Mahalin at Pagyamanin”, the program kicked off early with a fluvial parade of color coded bancas representing the different participating coastal municipalities in Cavite including Bacoor, Kawit, Noveleta, Cavite City, Rosario, Tanza, Naic, Ternate and Maragondon. Some two hundred fisherfolks and fishery stakeholders joined in the festivities.
