Cavite Provincial Capitol Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CPCEMPC) held its 13th general assembly last March 28, 2016 at the Provincial Gymnasium, Trece Martires City. Ms. Lorena R. Cron, Chairperson of the CPCEMPC Board of Directors, facilitated the assembly proper by welcoming the members of the cooperative and expressing a message of optimism on the continuing successful operation of the cooperative.
In order to strengthen the National TB Program (NTP) in the province, the Provincial Government of Cavite thru the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. George R. Repique, Jr., in cooperation with the Department of Health, the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) and USAID joined the nation in celebrating World TB Day on March 31, 2016 at the Cavite Collaboration Center for Public Health Auditorium in Trece Martires City. Carrying the theme “Unite to End TB”, NTP coordinators, and various partners including city/municipal health officers, medical practitioners and staff of public and some private hospitals, representatives from different agencies such as the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, DOH, DepEd, DOLE, DILG and Rural Health Units (RHUs), as well as delegates from TB DOTS-providing and referring hospitals participated in the event.
Participants in the celebration were recognized by Dr. Gilbert Ilog, head of the PHO-Technical Division. In his welcome remarks, Dr. Ilog proudly shared that the province is performing better in the past three years up to present, disclosing significant improvement on TB case detection and treatment success rates. Regional NTP Coordinator Dr. Eva Marie Torio from DOH and by Dr. Karen Dalawangbayan from PBSP also delivered cordial messages. Dr. Torio inspired everyone with some real life TB-related stories, while Dr. Dalawangbayan acknowledged the noticeable increase in the number of partners who joined the celebration. Both guests encouraged participants to motivate more partners who will fully commit in the advocacy to end TB.
The Cavite Provincial Peace and Order Council led by Governor Jonvic Remulla resolved to ensure a peaceful 2016 National and Local Elections in the province during its meeting held on March 29, 2016 at the provincial capitol. Discussion focused on updates from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and preparations by the Provincial Police Office (PPO) to maintain a generally peaceful condition at all times in Cavite particularly for the May polls.
Attended by Cavite-PPO Acting Provincial Director P/SSUPT Eliseo DC Cruz, Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Vidzfar A. Julie, PG-COPS/PDRRM Officer Cecil D. Miranda, Provincial Health Officer Dr. George R. Repique Jr., Provincial Prosecutor Gavino B. Mapanoo and representatives from the Office of the Provincial Vice-Governor, AFP, DILG, DENR, DPWH, DepEd, DTI, ARESCOM, PPDO, PSWDO, PG-ENRO and PIO, election-related concerns were tackled such as campaign rules and regulations including posting of campaign materials. Security measures like checkpoints, gun ban and intensified monitoring of private armed groups (PAGs) and loose firearms were likewise discussed. Other issues that were also addressed include campaign sorties/motorcades that affect traffic condition in some areas of the province and some clarifications with regards to designated common poster area under Republic Act 9006 or the Fair Elections Act for the 2016 election.
