With this year’s theme, “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future For All”, the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) kicks off the Tourism Month Celebration 2019 with its very first tour guiding competition joined by tourism students from Cavite State University- Indang (CVSU), Lyceum of the Philippines University- Cavite (LPU), University of Perpetual Help System DALTA- Molino (UPHSD) and STI College- Rosario on September 05, 2019 at Cavite Collaboration Center for Public Health in Trece Martires City. Head of PTCAO, Ms. Elinia Imelda Rozelle S. Sangalang delivered her welcome remarks wherein she underscored the significance of a sustainable, progressive and developed tourism industry as it creates employment opportunities to attain inclusive growth for the community. Meanwhile, in the competition proper, different cities and municipalities of the province were assigned thru draw lots to each participant as tour destinations which aims to promote and showcase the historical attractions, sites, festivals and local cuisines in Cavite, as well as develop their skills in tour guiding. Out of 7 contestants, Ruschelle Glenn Royo of CVSU-Indang was hailed as the over-all champion. Patricia Valeriano of UPHSD- Molino bagged the first runner-up while Guillan Irish Barrameda of UPHSD- Molino and Renz Ruiz Medina of CVSU-Indang placed second and third runner-up, respectively. Winners received cash prize, plaque and will be given opportunities to attend tour guiding trainings as well as various familiarization tours facilitated by the PTCAO.
