The provincial government of Cavite thru the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office spearheaded the organization of the Provincial Local Council for Women on September 17, 2019 at the Ceremonial Hall, Provincial Capitol Building, Trece Martires City. The program was attended by representatives of City and Municipal Social Welfare Officers and officers of various women organization in the province. On behalf of Governor Jonvic C. Remulla, Former Board Member Irene Bencito, Provincial Gender and Development Focal Person, welcomed the participants and expressed the governor’s support on all the programs for women. She also stressed that women empowerment and gender equality will be mainstreamed through the formation of local council for women.   Meanwhile, Ms. Precyl T. Ramos, Social Welfare Officer III, discussed the main objective of the event which are, to orient the women organization on their roles and functions, and to establish, strengthen and federate the women organization. Overview of the national women organization, KALIPI or Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina was coversed by Ms. Jocelyn Jabon, SWO II- DSWD Regional Office. Mission and vision as well as the goals of the organization were discussed. She also deliberated the steps in organizing KALIPI.  An open forum was facilitated by Ms. Ramos wherein some issues and concerns were asked and reasonably answered by her and Ms. Jabon. Also, during the open forum, Ms. Bencito shared that women organization should focus on low-cost high-impact program, and that programs should focus on basic needs such as food, shelter, health and education rather than recreation. PSWDO Head, Ms. Felipa Servañez ended the program by thanking and asking the full cooperation of everyone.
