A unity motorcade joined by focal persons, officers and members of Federation of Persons with Disability- Cavite Inc. signaled the celebration of Cavite 41st National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week carrying the theme “Lokal na Pamahalaan: Kabalikat sa Pagtupad ng Karapatan ng mga Taong May Kapansanan” on October 07, 2019. The culminating event led by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) aims to raise awareness on the issues and concerns of person with disabilities (PWDs) and empower its sector.

The program proper started with a welcome remarks delivered by Ms. Candy Paz Lontoc, on behalf of PSWDO Head Ms. Felipa Servañez .  Disability Affairs Officer IV Ms. Maria Shiela Antenor Haloc acknowledged the presence of all the attendees  while Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs  Alvin Mojica who graced the program on behalf of Governor Jonvic Remulla delivered his opening remarks and reiterated that the activity will not only inspire the partakers to unite  but also ignite the minds of the participants to be an advocate in implementing programs and services for all types of PWDs.

The affair was made colorful with some intermission numbers from talented Caviteño PWDs who won in various PWD talent contest around the CALABARZON.

Ms. Adela Dela Cruz, PHO- Non-Communicable Disease Program Coordinator, conversed about the topic on Mental Health Awareness wherein she oriented the attendees on how to handle and respond when challenges and predicaments occur.  She also shared “TIPS 4A HAPPYOU” and “TIPS 4A HealthISIP”.

On the other hand, medical practitioners from General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital (GEAMH) and other medical professional from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) rendered free medical check-up and tooth extraction to the participants. They have also received vitamins and medicines for common ailments.

In the afternoon, 30 contestants joined in the First Cavite Disability Knowledge Bowl Tournament 2019. After three rounds, Ms. Charmaine Marges and Mr. Florian De Borja of Indang were hailed as the overall champion. Meanwhile, Ms. Vanessa Gloriani and Mr. Ronel Amparo of General Emilio Aguinaldo bagged the first runner up award while Ms. Niña Berrenguel and Mr. Abelardo Cordenete of Alfonso were recognized as the second runner up.
