The Provincial Government of Cavite, thru the Provincial Tourism and
Cultural Affairs Office, took part in the 2021 Regional Culture Summit
led by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) under the
Sub-Committee on Culture on November 17, 2021 via Zoom platform. The
summit aims to raise awareness and appreciation on culture and
development and to solicit support on the promotion and development of
Filipino culture and values, participated by various LGUs, schools and
universities, and other agencies from Region IV-A CALABARZON.
During the plenary session, Mr. Ivan Cenon V. Bernardo from the
Department of Trade and Industry discussed the Creative Industries in
CALABARZON highlighting the significance of digitalization as a medium
for economic growth. Meanwhile, Prof. Arvin Manuel R. Villalon from the
National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) elaborated the Cultural
Response and Resiliency Plan focusing on the identification of
developmental and sustainable strategies for the culture sector
considering the impact of the pandemic.
In the latter part of the activity, the attendees joined different break
out rooms representing the five (5) sectors of culture, namely: Culture
in Health facilitated by PGC Representative Armin Arañas; Culture in
Governance and Culture and the Arts by Laguna province representatives
Mr. Peter V. Uckung and Prof. Ricamela S. Palis, respectively; Culture
in Education by Batangas province representative Ms. Vanessah Castillo,
and Culture and Tourism by Quezon province representative Mr. James D.
Salas. Each sector focused on a particular issue and identifies
strategies in mainstreaming culture and values towards recovery and
