New Multi-purpose Evacuation Center turned over to the province of Cavite

A new Multi-Purpose Evacuation Center located in Palico IV, City of Imus which was completed though the inter-agency collaboration among government agencies was turned over to the Provincial Government of Cavite on April 6, 2022 as part of the goal to provide all local government units within the CALABARZON region a permanent structure for evacuation.

 

Among the agencies that paved the way for the realization of the evacuation center project were the Office of Civil Defense-CALABARZON headed by Regional Director Maria Theresa R. Escolano, the Department of Public Works and Highways Region IV-A represented by Arch. Alfonso Sualog, Jr., the Department of Social Welfare and Development IV-A represented by Mr. Justin Neil Marasigan, Department of Health-Center for Health and Development IV-A represented by  Dr. C.J. Corfresos, National Housing Authority and Department of the Interior and Local Government.

 

According to Director Escolano, the Evacuation Center is the 8th among the 24 projects that will be turned over to various LGUs in CALABARZON. She added that the EC was designed to be a multi-purpose facility that is gender-sensitive, child-friendly, mother-baby-friendly and equipped with amenities that can accommodate sporting events, livelihood trainings and social gatherings so that it can be utilized to the fullest even without disasters and calamities.

 

Accepting the multi-purpose evacuation center on behalf of Governor Jonvic Remulla was Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs, Mr. Alvin S. Mojica together with the team from the Provincial Government of Cavite representing member offices of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

 

During the turnover ceremony, Director Escolano also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to the Provincial Government of Cavite through Provincial Administrator Mojica and PDRRMO Head Eloisa Rosul for the successful formulation of its Public Service Continuity Plan which signifies commitment to ensuring delivery of public service amidst any disaster. She also lauded the remarkable performance of the province of Cavite having ranked number one in terms of COIVD-19 vaccine doses administered during the Bayanihan Bakunahan and for being awarded beyond compliant during the LOCAL DRRM Council and Offices assessment under her watch as Regional Director.

 

Capping the event was the signing of Memorandum of Agreement between and among the agencies and the Provincial Government of Cavite pertaining to the duties and responsibilities on the utilization and management of the Evacuation Center.
