CIVIC, PRIVATE GROUPS JOIN CAVITE GOVERNMENT IN HEALTHCARE SERVICE DELIVERY EVENT

The CaviteƱos UK Association, an organization of Cavite natives based in the United Kingdom, joined the Provincial Government of Cavite, led by Governor Jonvic Remulla, the City Government of General Trias and the City Government of Trece Martires in
delivering healthcare services to a total of 2,469 residents in the province held at Trece Martires City Hall on February 7, 2020.

The team of physicians, dentists, and other medical professionals from General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital (GEAMH), City Health Offices of General Trias and Trece Martires, Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 125th Squadron, Philippine Guardians Brotherhood, Incorporated-Taytay, Rizal Chapter and Cavite Medical Society provided free pediatric checkups to 1,002 patients and dental services, including tooth extraction and oral prophylaxis to 105 individuals.

Multilab Diagnostic and Health Services also joined the event, providing free ECG, X-Ray, and blood sugar testing, while United Laboratories (Unilab) conducted anemia screening. Acupuncture and ear candling services were also available for the participants, courtesy of teachers and students from the New Generation International School. Wart removal services were also provided by AR Skin Med Spa.

Meanwhile, the medical personnel from Provincial Health Office conducted vaccination, deworming and skin care checkup, distributed soaps, ointments and contraceptives and other family planning supplies and also gave lectures on good nutrition, while personnel from the Provincial Population Office provided family planning counseling. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of GEAMH also provided a lecture and counseling prior to the conduct of cervical cancer screening to 50 adult women. Participants in the mission were also able to avail free vitamins and prescription medicines, hygiene and emergency kits as well as insect repellent lotions from the Office of the Provincial Governor and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.Ā  The CaviteƱos UK Association also offered dental care kits and reading glasses.

CaviteƱos UK Association, who helped organized the program, was represented during the event by Ms. Arlene Oxida-CaƱada and Mr. Lito Famy . Their group has previously organized medical missions in the province, including those conducted for the 900 residents of Poblacion, Indang, Cavite on February 8, 2019 and for the 1,573 residents of Alfonso, Cavite on February 4, 2020.

Several local officials were present during the event to affirm their support for the Provincial Government’s health programs, including Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla, Sixth District Board Member Kerby Salazar, Provincial Administrator for Community Afairs Alvin Mojica, Trece Martires City Mayor Gemma Lubigan and Vice-Mayor Bobby Montehermoso, as well as the members of the city council. Barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, private physicians and dentists, and other medical volunteers from the city and provincial governments also made the event possible.
