              Cavite’s Tourism Month Celebration 2010

For the first time, the Provincial Government of Cavite, through the Tourism Development Office headed by Ms. Liberty Herrera, BM Ryan Enriquez and Cavite Provincial Tourism Board, Inc., joined the National Tourism Month Celebration last September 2010. Series of activities were conducted to further boost Cavite’s tourism industry.

The celebration kicked-off with the 3-day Tourism Trade Fair at Summit Ridge Promenade in Tagaytay City last September 17-19 where 24 small and medium-scale enterprises (SME’S) showcased proudly-made Cavite products ranging from local delicacies to clothing, fashion accessories, indigenous home decors and household products.Along with the trade fair are display of local designer’s, Emar Vida, gown collection and photo exhibit of Cavite’s prime tourist sites.

Came next was the Skills Training on Tourist Reception and Guiding Techniques held on September 22-24 at the Development Academy of the Philippines, also in Tagaytay City. With the assistance of DOT Region IV Office headed by Ms. Louella C. Jurilla, accredited tour guide and resource speaker, Medel S. Baytan from Kawit, lectured and trained the participants composed of Provincial Tourism staff, city/municipal Tourism Officers and selected Tourism students from various universities in Cavite on the basic procedures of receiving guests and guiding tourists. This program was conceived with the end view of developing/improving the performance of frontliners in rendering first rate professional service in the tourism industry.

And to further increase tourist arrivals in the province, a Familiarization Tour to Cavite’s Heritage & Tourist Sites was conducted for the second time last September 28. A number of tour operators and travel agents who are members of prestigious travel and tour associations like PHILTOA, PTAA, NAITAS and CTAA were invited to an ocular visit in Caylabne Bay Resort, Bonifacio Trial House, GBR Museum, Josephine & Water Camp and Aguinaldo Shrine. From this activity, participants were anticipated to create ready-to-sell Cavite tour packages for both local and foreign tourists.

For the final leg of the Tourism Month Celebration, DENR helped organize the Adventure Fun Hike at Mt. Pico de Loro which was held on September 30. Members of Cavite Camera Club, Dasmariñas Camera Club, city/municipal Tourism Officers, Philippine National Red Cross volunteers, PNP and a few local travel agents joined the fun hike with the objective to re-discover and promote Pico de Loro as the one of the best eco-tourism sites in the province. A tree-planting activity was also done as part of the advocacy to protect and preserve our natural resources.

Sponsors of the whole celebration included Summit Ridge Promenade-Tagaytay City, Caylabne Bay Resort, Bonifacio Trial House, GBR Museum, Josephine & Water Camp, Aguinaldo Shrine, Museo De La Salle and Picnic Grove Tagaytay City.
