KATROPA-MOVE Organization in Cavite, transforming barangays to a more gender-responsive community

In its aim to support the national quest for Violence Against Women (VAW) Free Philippines, the Provincial Government of Cavite through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office conducted an Orientation of Kalalakihang Tapat sa Responsibilidad at Obligasyon sa Pamilya-Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere (KATROPA-MOVE) Organization on August 7, 2018 at the Bulwagang Tanglaw, DepEd Compound, Trece Martires City, Cavite.

The participants were welcomed by Ms. Felipa G. Servañez, Head-PSWDO, while Mr. Rodel Vincent Bae, Executive Assistant to the Governor, inspired them with a message from Governor Boying Remulla, congratulating PSWDO for giving value not only to women but also to men, and reminding everyone that he is also a Katropa.

A brief orientation on Gender Sensitivity as well as Gender Based Violence and Related Laws on Women were discussed by Mr. Dionisio B. Dalusong, OIC-Division Chief Institutional Development Division, DSWD IV-A. Likewise, Mr. Paul Mark Feranil from the Cavite Provincial Population Office enlightened participants with Men’s Responsibilities on Gender and Development (MR GAD) and Kalalakihang Tapat sa Responsibilidad at Obligasyon sa Pamilya (KATROPA), discussing its aim to transform barangays to become more responsive to gender concerns.

After the learning and realization about the MOVE Organization, everyone pledged their wholehearted commitment in the elimination of VAW. Winners during the election of interim officers took their oath led by Committee on Family, Women, Elderly and Social Services Chairperson Board Member Reinalyne V. Varias, being witnessed by more than 100 attendees to the orientation from the government, private sector, academe and non-government organizations.
