PRODUCT CLINIC FOR CAVITE MSMEs

To further enhance the products of Cavite micro entrepreneurs, the Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Office conducted the 2nd Product Clinic for Cavite MSMEs ā€“ food category on November 7, 2019 at the Cavite Cooperative Center in Trece Martires City. Ms. Liza C. Gabatan, Entrepreneurial Division Head provided the overview of the activity and pointed out that the PCLEDO is always open to help aspiring entrepreneurs to raise the quality and marketability of their products. Consultation and lecture covered Product Sensory by Ms. Ana Marie Daigan and Ms. Claire S. Malibiran, Packaging Material Evaluation by Ms Grace D. Noceja and Ms. Ray Ann Garcia Garaide, and Packaging and Label Design Evaluation by Mr. Rene Jethro Abary and Mr. Chris Johnniel France Rana, all from the Department of Science and Technology-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI). During the program, the panelists evaluated some products examining their details and providing assessment to help participants make the necessary improvements. A lecture on Guidelines on FDA’s LTO and Product Registration and Orientation on Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety was facilitated by Ms. Gretchen Barredo, Food Safety Consultant of GSB Food and Service Consultancy. The talk included the guidelines, requirements and procedures pertaining to Licensing. Likewise, food safety hazards and the adverse effects on consumers as well as the
chemistry of food, food-borne illness and its symptoms were discussed. Atty. Khervy B. Reyes, OIC, PCLEDO thanked and congratulated the 18 participants for coming to the Clinic and shared insights on how a well-developed product could lead to a long-lasting business. The awarding of Certificates of Appreciation and Participation to consultants and participants concluded the event.
