As part of the provincial government's year-round program for Caviteño kids, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Ms. Fely Servañez thru the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children conducted the 2016 Give-a-Gift for a Child Project on February 7, 2017 at the Provincial Gymnasium, Trece Martires City for the benefit of children with special needs.
In his opening message, Mr. Alvin S. Mojica, PCLEDO Head and PSWDO Consultant thanked all those who were present and encouraged everyone to continuously be partners of the government in caring for the less privileged children.
Meanwhile, Hon. Reinalyne Varias, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee Chair on Women, Family, Children, Elderly and Social Services congratulated the parents/guardians who are showing genuine/unconditional love for their children with special needs. "To everyone, they are persons with disabilities (PWDs), but for me they are persons with special abilities because I believe they will become special individuals in the future," she said. She also lauded the continuous support of Gov. Boying Remulla in all the programs of the different councils in the province.
PCPC members coming from different department partners, PNP, NGOs and other stakeholders were likewise recognized.
The 1,150 children beneficiaries from 5 cities and 18 municipalities were provided with simple gifts, food and treated with fun and games led by Jollibee-Trece Martires Crew. The presence of Jollibee mascot with his friends Hetty, Twirlie, Yum and Popo made the whole event more enjoyable for the kids with special needs.
Also gracing the event were Engr. Enrico Alvarez, Provincial Administrator for Internal Affairs, City/Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (C/MSWDO) and focal persons, parents, guardians and Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PWDAO) focal persons from different municipalities.
