PGC Celebrates National Women’s Month


     The Provincial Government of Cavite in coordination with the Provincial Gender and Development Council (PGADC) sponsored the National Women’s Month Celebration on March 28, 2017 at the Provincial Gymnasium, Trece Martires City, Cavite. The program centered on this year’s theme, “We Make Change Work for Women, # Women Make Change”. 

     Ms. Felipa G. Servañez, RSW, PSWDO Head/Secretariat-PGADC, acknowledged the audience who are mostly BHW’s from District 7 – Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Alfonso, Indang, Magallanes, Mendez, Maragondon, Naic, Tagaytay City, Ternate, and the municipality of Amadeo from District 6. 

     Hon. Reinalyne V. Varias, 7th District Board Member, head of the Committee on Women, Family, Children, Elderly and Social Services and PGADC Co-chairperson talked about the responsibilities of women as a daughter, as a wife and as a mother that served as inspiration for all. 

     Vice-Gov. Jolo Revilla talked about anti-discrimination law and its significance on women empowerment. The law provides that women will no longer be discriminated especially in the work place. Seventh district Board Member Rainier Ambion enumerated the sacrifices that women go through for the sake of the family.

     In his message, Gov. Boying Remulla salutes mothers and women leaders for their services in the preservation of Filipino culture. He also considers mothers as the center of family life.

     Mr. Alvin M. Mojica, PCLEDO Head discussed about women history and compared women of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s to the women of today. He said that women today are more empowered and are open for change.

     After a healthy lunch, the women participants were treated to several activities simultaneously held at the venue including livelihood training, health, beauty and wellness services, MSME trade fair and free dental check-ups. (PICAD)
