PGC opens 2017 Inter-Department Sportsfest

     In the spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship and healthy competitions among its employees, the Provincial Government of Cavite thru the Provincial Youth and Sports Development Office held the opening ceremonies of its annual Inter-Department Sportsfest on April 20, 2017 at the Provincial Gymnasium, Trece Martires City.

     The event was highlighted by the parade of the different teams together with their muses at the Provincial Capitol grounds. During the program, Mr. Ferdinand A. Belamide, Executive Assistant V, 7th District Board Member Reinier Ambion, Cavite Councilors’ League President Kherby Salazar and Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla gave their short inspiring messages reminding everyone to give their best and enjoy the sports event that will build physical health and strength. 

     Mr. Garry Sapin, Sports Coordinator of the Provincial Engineering Office led the oath of sportsmanship while Mr. Albert A. Sañez, Executive Assistant/Tournament Director and Ms. Mercy Galarde, OIC-PYSDO formally declared the opening of the sportsfest through a ceremonial chess move.

     A triple tie was announced after the muses’ competition and they are Ms. Agatha Cristy Marquez of the Provincial Health Office (White Viper Team), Ms. Wendel Aira Padilla of the Office of the Provincial Governor (Maroon Stallions Team). Each one received a cash prize of P5,000.00.

     Events for this year’s sportsfest include volleyball, basketball (whole court), badminton – doubles/mixed doubles, and chess. The competition will run for four (4) months until the first week of July. Volleyball games, chess and badminton will be played at the Provincial Gymnasium while the basketball games will be played in Barangay Inocencio Covered Court, Trece Martires City. (PICAD)
