The Cavite Provincial Library headed by Ms. Concepcion Villanueva holds a summer computer literacy class for selected Caviteño kids. The second batch of children ages 8-11 were taught the basic computer skills, applications such as Microsoft Word and introduction to Power Point by Ms. Edelyne T. Lagac and Mr. Charlie Garido, trained volunteer instructors, on May 22-26, 2017 at the Legislative Building, Provincial Capitol Compound, Trece Martires City. Adding fun to the lessons were the games in between subjects with prizes and a walk-in guest in the person of Dr. Aurelio Bautista, who taught them Origami, the art of Paper Folding.
“Computer literacy is so important with the growth of technology, so we want to provide all people with computer education through a variety of classes and programs and that includes kids”, stressed Ms. Villanueva. Othercomputer classes conducted by the Provincial Library catered to government employees, teachers, students, vendors, barangay officials, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Nutrition Scholars, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), out-of-school youths (OSY) and kids.The first run of the five-day, 2-hour class was conducted last May 15-19 with 13 kids participants while the second batch had 8. They are expected to demonstrate basic computer skills as they graduate on the last day of their class. (PICAD)
