A busy 2013 awaits the Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCLEDO) as a new program named “Banner Products” is introduced in support of Cavite’s finest products from cooperatives and local entrepreneurs. The banner products were identified based on their quality and market potential to prepare them in entering a bigger market. They will receive a comprehensive assistance in collaboration with DTI, DOST, DOT, BFAD and DOLE. The assistance includes entrepreneurial training, product design and development, registration assistance and marketing.
Besides the new program, the office has provided 14 special livelihood training to different barangays of cities / municipalities in Cavite, schools, ecozones and cooperatives for the month of January to February. It has also documented 2 testimonies through the “Livelihood On-the-Go” program helping them to make their business grow. The office has also provided free packaging and labeling designs to 6 MSMEs and assistance on design and promotional materials to 5 MSMEs.
The PCLEDO kicked off with its first capacity building seminar for cooperatives entitled “Basic Cooperative Course” last February 21-22, 2013 at the SangguniangPanlalawigan Session Hall, TreceMartires City. A total of 85 officers from 37 cooperatives attended and lectured by Ms. Imelda Z. Ambrad, Assistant Manager of Cavite Farmers Feedmilling and Marketing Cooperative (CAFFMACO) in Silang, Cavite. The first developmental training for Cavite MSMEs entitled “Basic Accounting for Non-Accountants” was organized last February 26, 2013 at the Cavite Cooperative Development Center, TreceMartires City; attended by 55 entrepreneurs and facilitated by Mr. Raegan L. Capuno, Chairman of the Accountancy Department at First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities, Tanauan City, Batangas.
There are 14 cooperative trainings facilitated by the PCLEDO Specialists attended by 624 participants and the office coordinated 6 trade fair and exhibits providing our MSMEs with a sales of P414,472.09. The office also awarded subsidy to 8 cooperatives in the amount of P270,000.00.
With all these busy schedules, the office manage to send employees to seminars for personal development like Advanced Photoshop CS5 for Print Production, Supervisory Development Course and Seminar on Marketing Development and Networking Linkage of Agricultural Cooperatives in Asian Countries. Looking after the health and fitness of its employees, the office now conducts a regular physical fitness program every Friday afternoon.
The PCLEDO is mandated to provide technical support to the Provincial Governor in carrying out measures to ensure the delivery of basic services and provision of facilities through the development of cooperatives, new economic enterprises and alternative sources of income through livelihood projects so as to improve the economic and social conditions of Caviteños. It is headed by Mr. Rene R. Tongson, Officer In-Charge, Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs Office.
