The Provincial Government of Cavite, thru Provincial Tourism and

Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) in partnership with Cavite Provincial
Council for Culture, Arts and Heritage (CPCCAH), held the Kalutong
Caviteño: e-Kwentuhan on April 14, 2021 via Cavite Tourism Facebook
page. This program marks the celebration of National Filipino Food Month
as per Presidential Proclamation No. 469 that aims to promote, preserve,
and ensure the transmission of vast Filipino culinary traditions to the
present and future generations.

During the program, Provincial Tourism Officer Ms. Rozelle Sangalang
warmly welcomed the participants and gave a brief overview about
Cavite’s richness not only on historical events but also on local
traditional cuisines.

Razorchef Philippines’ and Culinary General Christopher Carangian gave
deeper understanding on local food culture in Cavite and his discoveries
of the history behind the traditional Caviteño recipes such as ciento
quince, halo-halo, nilagang bulalo, Zapote chicken bbq, Imus longganisa,
and pansit pusit among others. Chef Chris also pointed out that the
“tahong and talaba” or mussels and oysters in Bacoor Bay and Amadeo
coffee can be regarded as important addition to Cavite’s gastronomy.
Finally, he encouraged everyone to preserve and promote the province’s
local dishes.

The lecture and success stories shared by Chef Chris have inspired
viewers, earning positive comments and thousands of views during the

Commissioner of National Historical Commission of the Philippines Dr.
Emmanuel F. Calairo, expressed his appreciation to PTCAO for the effort
in conducting this kind of activity despite the crisis. —(PTCAO)
