A MOA signing and tree planting activity for a sustainable future

The Office of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (OPENRO) spearheaded the Cavite Arbor Day 2023 as part of the Expanded Greening Program of the Province of Cavite on July 21, 2023 at Barangay Sungay East, Tagaytay City. The initiative marks the provincial government’s commitment to conserve and rehabilitate the Taal Volcano Protected Landscape (TVPL).

Likewise, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony took place, signifying the collaborative efforts of the provincial government and the city government of Tagaytay with various government agencies and other relevant stakeholders. The MOA outlined specific objectives, responsibilities, and action plans to ensure the long-term success of the tree planting initiative. It also addressed maintenance strategies, regular monitoring, and evaluation of the project’s progress to track the impact on TVPL.

A total of 400 seedlings comprised of narra, sampalok, langka, guyabano and caballero were planted within the territorial boundaries of Barangay Sungay East, San Jose, Iruhin East and Central, Maharlika East and West, and Tolentino East and West.

The event was participated by private companies and stakeholders, Cavite PNP personnel, national government agencies, and local officials of various barangays of Tagaytay City.
