In a serene and spiritually charged atmosphere, the province of Cavite reverberated with prayers, inspiration, and unity during the National Bible Awareness Month Celebration held on January 27, 2024, at the iconic Praying Hands in Tagaytay City.
The event, spearheaded by the Office of the Provincial Vice Governor under the leadership of Hon. Athena Briana Tolentino, and with the collaboration of the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, drew the participation of various local chief executives and over 300 attendees from the different local government units and religious groups in the province. The program aimed to celebrate the significance of the Bible in the lives of the Caviteños.
The festivities commenced with a soul-stirring opening prayer led by Bishop Felipe Lazada of Cavite for Jesus Movement, setting a deeply spiritual tone for the gathering. Hon. Irene P. Bencito, extended a warm welcome remark, emphasizing the vital role of fostering connections within the community and strengthening people’s faith through such meaningful activities.
A brief overview of Provincial Ordinance No. 419 Series of 2023, titled “An Ordinance Institutionalizing the Annual Celebration of Bible Month, Every January of Every Year,” was presented by OPVG Local Legislative Staff, Carolina L. Rivera, shedding light on the commitment to perpetuate the meaningful tradition.
Rev. Reuben M. Abante, Secretary General of the BIBLE MODE, shared an inspirational message and led a heartfelt prayer, underlining the importance of embracing Christ and his teachings. He emphasized that the Bible serves a guide to doing what is right and believing in the blessings it brings to the people of Cavite.
The lighting of candles ceremony, symbolizing the spread of light and knowledge, was led by Vice Gov. Athena Tolentino, creating a visually captivating and spiritually uplifting moment. A poignant Moment of Silence allowed attendees to reflect and contemplate the profound significance of the Bible in their lives. The atmosphere was heightened by the soul-stirring Trumpet Sound performed by the Tagaytay City Drum and Bugle Corps.
Pastor Robert Ramirez of the Philippine Bible Society played a prominent role in a compelling Bible reading session, encouraging participants to read various scriptures simultaneously. He also led the oath-taking ceremony, emphasizing the belief that the Bible serves as the sole foundation for God’s words and the faith of the people.
The event concluded with closing remarks delivered by Rev. Bernie Fontabla, Senior Pastor of Faith Center Tagaytay. His words echoed the sentiments of the day, expressing gratitude for the shared spiritual experience and underscoring the importance of the Bible in fostering a strong and united community.
