In a concerted effort to combat the stigma surrounding leprosy and raise awareness about various skin disease, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer in partnership with the DasmariƱas City Health Office observed Leprosy Control Week through conducting free skin disease consultation on February 27, 2024 in Barangay Sampaloc 4, City of DasmariƱas.
The initiative led by the OPHO and CHO health authorities served more than 100 individuals. Beneficiaries received valuable information on various skin diseases, with an emphasis on the importance of early detection and seeking timely medical care. Likewise, prescription medicines and ointments were provided for free.
Efforts to combat leprosy stigma and raise awareness on various skin diseases continue through education, advocacy and community engagement. Collaboration between government agencies, healthcare professionals, civil society organizations, and affected communities is crucial in this endeavor.
