Continuously Promoting Sustainable Pig Farming in Cavite

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Region IV-A in coordination with the Provincial Veterinary Office and some Municipal Agriculture Offices initiated another Mass Launching of Farmers’ Field School on Sustainable Pig Farming (FFS-SPF) at the Covered Court of Barangay Inocencio, Trece Martires City on July 12, 2018.

 

The FFS-SPF aims to give innovative information for backyard swine raisers of the municipalities of Alfonso, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Maragondon, Mendez and Naic. The training focuses on challenges, issues and updates on pig farming as well as new techniques on how to raise pigs using Organic and Natural feeds.

 

During the assembly, Ms. Leah R. Villanueva, Market Specialist III of the Provincial Veterinary Office gave an overview on FFS-SPF and explained the scope of activities and the timeline for the training which will run for 20 weeks.  Each municipality will have 25 participants  for the conduct of the training which will be facilitated by their respective Municipal Agriculture Offices.

 

As part of the launching, a pledge of commitment was signed by Ms. Marites Piamonte Cosico, ATI Center Director Region IV-A ; Mr. Florinio O. Digma, Regional Coordinating Officer, Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office; SB Member Marietta Joyce Rom,  Committee on Agriculture – Alfonso; Mr. AJ Heron, Executive Assistant to Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Mayor Danilo M. Bencito; Mr. Manuel Riel, Human Resource Office-Maragondon; Mendez Municipal Agriculturist Ms. Vilma E. Constante; Ms. Leony Flores, Municipal Agriculture Office-Naic and the Provincial Veterinary Office led by Dra. Gloria C. Digma .

 

Likewise, more than 100 participants are expected to benefit from the training via Video Launching called “School on Air”  which is aired every Monday on DZAS  702 Khz AM station at 11:15 to 11:50 in the morning.
