In its aim to reinforce camaraderie and efficiently learn from other’s experiences, the provincial government of Cavite thru the Provincial Government – Cavite Office of Public Safety (PG-COPS), together with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) facilitated the Cavite Provincial PWD Convention on July 30-31, 2018 at Angel’s Hills Convention Center, Tagaytay City.
The two-day event has been fruitful for the participants who belong to the cluster of persons with disabilities as they were given the chance to listen to the speakers who have shared their expertise in their field of endeavor. The convention also gave way for sharing and learning experiences among stakeholders who have gone successfully in their performance of PWD programs and services. It also enabled the PWD leaders and DRRM practitioners meet and acquire conceivable practices and share success stories as it became an avenue for communication and discussion of imperative issues concerning the PWD’s.
On the first day, “Charting the Course Towards Resilience and Inclusion in the Philippines” was tackled by Mr. Michael Vincent D. Mercado of Center for Disaster Preparedness Foundation Inc; followed by “Humanity and Inclusion’s Experience on Access to Services which was discussed by Mr. Edward T. Ello of Humanity and Inclusion, while Engr. Ricky Bunao , Chief of DRM Division DSWD IV-A conversed ” Role of PWDs in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management” .Ā Meanwhile, Engr. Aldwin Jester Angcaya of DPWH Cavite deliberated the topic “Towards an Accessible and Barrier Free Environment”, while Ms. Adela Z. Dela Cruz, NCD Program Coordinator of PHO-Cavite conveyed “Health Care Program for PWD’s.
On the second day, Mr. Miguel Antonio P. Limon, Regional Program Coordinator of the National Council on Disability Affairs conferred “Highlights of RA 10754″ while Mr. Dionisio Dalusong, IDD Head of DSWD Region IV-A communicated the Employment Opportunities for PWD’s ” followed by the discussion of “Employment Opportunities for PWD’s” which was conveyed by Mr. Ricky Martin V. Velasco, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE Cavite.
Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist Atty. Khervy Reyes was also present who welcomed the participants and reiterated the support that the provincial government can offer to the PWD’s.
