REACHING OUT TO LOCAL GUIDES OF MAGALLANES THRU SKILLS TRAINING

In order to improve the foundational skills of the local tour guides in the municipality of Magallanes and prepare them better as tourism gradually reopens especially for outdoor adventures, the Provincial Government of Cavite, thru the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office and the Municipal Tourism Office, conducted a 3-day Basic Tour Guiding Training on March 17-19, 2021.

Helping the local guides gain proper knowledge, enhance communication skills, and boost self-confidence is Dr. Reynaldo Jorda, a Master Trainor and a licensed tour guide of the Department of Tourism. In the 3-day course, Dr. Jorda introduced the basic practical skills and important pointers a tour guide must know, from delivering commentaries to understanding tourist behavior, needs, and expectations.

A total of 22 LGU-recognized tour guides participated, 11 of which excelled in written, oral and practical exams. All participants were provided with free meals, training kit, cap, and t-shirt, which they can use as a uniform during tour guiding service.

On behalf of Magallanes Mayor Jasmin Maligaya-Bautista, Municipal Tourism Officer Liezette Nepomuceno expressed appreciation to Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla, Provincial Tourism Officer Rozelle Sangalang as well as to the Department of Tourism for their support, looking forward to the next trainings such as basic life support and survival and rescue in the forest and mountain. ā€”(PTCAO)
