About

The Manila Jockey Club was established in 1867. It is the premier horse racing club in the country, and one of the oldest in the Asia Pacific region. From its humble beginnings in Sta. Cruz, Manila, MJC transferred its operations in 2003 to the South and opened the San Lazaro Leisure Park (SLLP), a 77-hectare mixed use, world-class development at Carmona, Cavite.

Auspiciously shaped like a horseā€™s head, SLLP features a state-of-the-art, steel and glass Turf Building with twin-oval racing tracks. The complex also features The Jockey Club Casino, a PAGCOR licensed gaming facility; Chantilly Bar & Bistro restaurant; VIP viewing boxes; banquet venues for multipurpose events; and Canyon Ranch, an upscale real estate development with Century Properties.

Cockers Arena is operated by MJCā€™s wholly-owned subsidiary, the Manila Cockers Club (MCC). The studio cockpit features a steel-and-glass fighting pit, full wait service, deluxe theater seats, and 65-inch LED TVs inside and outside the venue. Derbies are shown live via GameTime TV ch 109, an exclusive channel on Cignal Cable.

SLLP also features an international, FIFA-accredited artificial football pitch through its partnership with the Philippine Football Federation (PFF). The complex is set to become the next ā€œfootball mecca of the Philippinesā€ as additional facilities and training centers are planned to be built in the coming years.

Moreover, a multi-purpose natural field was constructed at the center of the twin tracks which has hosted international outdoor sporting events such as the Manila 10s International Rugby Festival, Philippine Rugby Football Union, and tournaments from various local football clubs.

Other sports such as Pony Baseball, barefoot marathons, and company sporting festivals have also been conducted at the complex. Plans are also on their way for the construction of a Multipurpose Cockpit Stadium, and Wakeboarding Park.

Apart from its leisure and sporting facilities, plans to construct a vibrant hotel, retail, dining and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centers inside the complex are also in the pipeline. MJC has partnered with BPO locators and investors to develop SLLP into an Information Technology (IT) park which will bring additional revenues and employment to the Carmona municipality. The project is expected to commence in two years with a BPO building as among the first to be constructed.
