2018 RAPESO Mid-Year Performance Assessment 

In its goal to reinforce its commitment on public employment services and fortify their linkages, the Regional Alliance of Public Employment Services Office (RAPESO) convened the 2018 RAPESO Mid-Year Performance Assessment hosted by the province of Cavite which was held at The Bayleaf Hotel in the City of General Trias on July 4-5, 2018. The gathering was attended by more than 100 PESO Managers and staff in the region and officials from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). This endeavor was a priority program of DOLE in partnership with the local government units thru PESO Region IV-A.

 

Board Member Kerby Salazar, Committee Chair on Industrial Peace, Labor and Employment delivered an inspirational message and represented General Trias Mayor Antonio Ferrer and Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin Remulla.  In spite of his tiring schedule, BM Salazar made an effort to join in the gathering to stimulate the minds of PESO Managers to use their abilities to inspire and motivate the job seekers and advise them to persevere to find a decent job.  He stressed that helping fellow Caviteños to find a job can help them uplift their way of living.

 

Atty Evelyn Ramos, DOLE IV-A OIC -Regional Director echoed her admiration to the performance of various PESO organizations in CALABARZON and boost their morale by saying that anything can be achieved if they will lend extra effort to accomplish it.  She also reiterated her views on the relevance of the roles of PESO Managers to provide excellent assistance to aspiring applicants and maintain its convergence and communication with different agencies which can be a partner in providing decent job for job seekers.”

 

During the assembly, Ms. Zoe T. Diaz de Rivera, Chairperson of the Special Committee on Strengthening Academe Industry Linkages – CALABARZON Regional Development Council tackled the topic “Adopting the Recommendation of the 1st CALABARZON Jobseekers’ Summit and Requesting the Support of Concerned Agencies and Organizations.” On the other hand, Ms. Maryjane Corcuera, Laguna Provincial PESO Manager discussed the OFW Flight- Case Management and encouraged the participants to keenly monitor their OFW and dependents to ensure their safety.

 

Likewise, Ms. Maria Angelic Espiritu Yaun from DOLE conversed the topic “How to Deal with Simple Labor Complaints; Non-Applicability of D.O 174-17; and How to Determine a Labor Only Contractor”. An open forum was facilitated to respond on clarifications and answer the queries of the participants. A fellowship night and awarding of certificates to distinguished municipalities and cities of CALABARZON was also held to motivate the PESO employees and inspire everyone to perform well.

 

On the second day, DOLE led the presentation and assessment of 2018 January-June Accomplishments by province. Workshop on Design Thinking Approach was also initiated and presented by CALABARZON attendees.  Dr. Eva Defiesta, OIC- Cavite Provincial PESO and President of PESO Manager’s Association of Cavite, Inc delivered the closing remarks and persuade every member of RAPESO to work hard for the attainment of a common goal. Mr. Ariel Mogul, General Trias City Executive Assistant IV, manager of the city government’s PESO and president of the PESO managers in Region IV-A spearheaded the ceremonial turnover as host province for the performance assessment from the province of Cavite to the province of Laguna.
