To empower and partake the youth in various activities that will intensify their social awareness, spiritual values and economic development, the Provincial Government of Cavite thru the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Provincial Youth and Sports Development Office (PYSDO) in partnership with Union of Enterprising Cooperative (UEC) , Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCLEDO) and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) facilitated the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) Leadership Training , with the theme “PYAP Unleashing the Fire to Lead” at Shoreline Kabalikat sa Kaunlaran Inc., in Malainen Bago in the municipality of Naic on September 11-13, 2018. The 3-day activity aims to equip them with God’s word, absorb the essentials of teamwork and strengthen the capabilities of the youth.
PYAP participants came from different cities and municipalities of Cavite specifically from Bacoor, Dasma, General Trias, Imus, Maragondon, Naic, Rosario, Ternate and Trece Martires City. Atty. Khervy B. Reyes, Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist, delivered an inspiring opening remark and challenged the leadership camp to know the purpose of building up the PYAP and reminded everyone that every youth has a big part in developing the nation. On the other hand, PYSDO Head, Ms. Mercy Gallarde highlighted in her speech that she still believes in the saying “Kabataan ay Pag-asa ng Bayan”. Likewise, Ms. Jessica Leigh Tibayan, representative from Schneider Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, shared some bible verses about how God will never give us problems that we cannot solve. Meanwhile, Mr. Rodel Vincent Bae, Executive Assistant of Governor Boying Remulla, delivered the keynote speech on behalf of the governor.
The training proper started as Ms. Aura Fuentes of PSWDO discussed the Gender Sensitivity Training. Senior Course Leader Mr. Marco L. Deuda led the whole 3-day camp and prepared challenges that tested the teamwork and dedication of each campers with the help of counselors from Victory Christian Fellowship- General Trias. Additionally, Mr. Daniel Herrera, ministry intern, discussed about the topic “Bagong Simula” as he shared his experience when he was young and how the Lord changed him.
Second day started with an inspirational topic delivered by Mr. Andy Cuadrasal, Campus Missionary/Life Coach of Every Nation Campus entitled “Bagong Patutunguhan” that motivated campers to strive hard for them to reach their goals. He also talked about the common issues that young people normally encountered and gave some advice on how to overcome them. Afternoon session was comprised of inspirational talks and motivational messages. “New Disciplines” was tackled by Ms. Regielyn Catibayan of UEC reminded everyone to be strong and have an unwavering faith in God. Meanwhile, Mr Alvin Mojica of PCLEDO also graced the program and inspired everyone by sharing a childhood tale which is familiar to everyone; “The Lazy Juan” when Juan waited for the guava to fall. Mr. Mojica compared our dreams to the guava fruit as he echoed that we are not supposed to wait for our dreams to be met but rather we should reach for them.
On its last day, Pastor Wilfred B. Quezon headed the discussion regarding “God’s Leadership and Management in Life” as he conveyed to the participants the true meaning of being a leader. According to him, a good leader is someone who develops another good leader. Likewise, Provincial Accountant Mr. Lauro D. Monzon gave an eye-opener reminder that dreams and plans may not be answered the way we expected it to be because God has better plans for our lives.
PSWDO Head, Ms. Felipa G. ServaƱes expressed her gratefulness for everyone that has been part of the training and left an inspirational quote saying that “A journey of a thousand miles begin with one step”. She encouraged the attendees to take one step at a time to fulfill their vision in life.
