Coop Leaders’ Conference Culminates Coop Month Celebration

The Provincial Government of Cavite thru the Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Office in partnership with the Provincial Cooperative Development Council culminated the Coop Month Celebration with the conduct of the 5th Cooperative Leaders’ Conference with the theme, “Managing Risk Beyond Compliance” held at the Tagaytay International Conventional Center, Tagaytay City on October 30, 2017.

On behalf of Governor Boying Remulla and Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla, Mr. Alvin S. Mojica, PCLEDO Department Head and PCDC Cavite Chairperson welcomed and thanked all the participants who attended the conference. In his message, CDA Region IV Dir. Salvador V. Valeroso, stressed that cooperatives focus on poverty eradication. “Coop is still our weapon to lower the level of poverty,” he said. He challenged the participants to focus not only on business resiliency or continuity planning but to think of adding investment to the cooperatives. He said it’s about time to do something magical.

Ms. Tersita E. Cheng, Chief Risk Officer and Senior Vice-President Risk Management Group, Producers Savings Bank shared her expertise on the subject: Risk Management and Business Continuity Planning highlighting its many benefits for cooperatives. Meanwhile, Ms. Rhoda Ruth M. Pillerin, Chief Executive Officer, Model Cooperative Network, Davao City discussed The Significance of Financial Discipline in Managing Risk in Capital, Credit, Liquidity, Market, Operational & Reputational as Cooperative  Geared Up for the Future.

On the other hand, Success Stories in terms of their Exponential Growth and in Managing Risk in Cooperative were shared by Ms. Maria Teresa Z. Garnace, VP for Membership & Community Services of the Philippine Army Finance Center Integrated Producers Cooperative (PAFCPIC), Mr. Ernesto A. Labadan, Jr., Regional Manager, First Community Cooperative and Col. Carlos B. Cepe, PAF (Ret.), Head of Investment Management Group in Operations, ACDI Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Earlier, a ribbon cutting was held to officially open the Trade Fair and Exhibit which was part of the event.

The conference was attended by 286 participants composed of cooperative leaders, board of directors, committee officers, executives, managers and supervisors.
