Mount Sungay, also known asĀ Mount Gonzales, is a mountain in theĀ provinceĀ ofĀ CaviteĀ in theĀ Philippines. Located in easternĀ Tagaytay, the inactiveĀ stratovolcano is the highest point of the province of Cavite at 709 metres (2,326Ā ft). The slopes of the mountain is theĀ sourceĀ of theĀ San Cristobal RiverĀ that flows from the mountain toĀ Silang, CaviteĀ down to its mouth atĀ Laguna de BayinĀ Calamba, Laguna.
The mountain’s former sharp peak and readily distinguishable shape made it a reliableĀ landmarkforĀ bearingĀ checks when sailing in and aroundĀ Manila BayĀ during the early days of navigation.
