CAVITE PROVINCIAL POPULATION OFFICE HOSTED CAVITE PARENTS FORUM CUM 4TH QUARTER REGIONAL POPULATION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (RPMC) MEETING AND CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOP FOR CALABARZON AND MIMAROPA

Cavite Provincial Population Office hosted Cavite Parents Forum cum 4th Quarter Regional Population Management Committee (RPMC) Meeting and Consultative Workshop for CALABARZON and MIMAROPA on November 21-23, 2017. This activity was done in celebration of the Regional Population Development Week.

Part of the occasion was the 2017 Regional AHD Short Film Festival Awarding Ceremony held on at Olivarez College, Tagaytay City. This celebration was graced by Officer-in-Charge of Region IV, Ms. Marilyn F. Ogaya and Regional Director of MIMAROPA, Ms. Lourdes P. Nacionales. Also, population workers and officers from Region IV and MIMAROPA together with representatives of all short film entries brighten this event.

Making the celebration more festive were the premier viewing of the twenty-one (21) short film entries produced by different secondary schools in CALABARZON and MIMAROPA which highlighted the theme ā€œPost Millenial: Renewed Home vs Riskā€. Parents and youth had the opportunity to gain information by attending this event, since this aims to strengthen advocacy on youth, anchored in the objective of the AHYD program and to address prevalent youth concerns and issues in the community such as teen age pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, abortion and abuses. Cavite province entries to the said event were entitled ā€œPahinaā€ produced by Tanza National Comprehensive High School and ā€œWhat if? Pero paanoā€ of IsCool Teen Center, City of Bacoor. The celebration would not have been complete without the awarding ceremony. Presentors from POPCOM Region IV and MIMAROPA awarded plaque of recognition to all the participating schools and provinces. Trophies and prizes were given to the winners of special awards. Winner of Best Picture from both Region IV and MIMAROPA will be the entries to the national film festival.

The Regional Film Festival is an innovative approach of POPCOM to part forward the ill ā€“ consequences of risky behavior of young people and the impart lessons that will keep them away from risky situation. Young film makers, actors and actresses come from different schools and teen centers in CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.

The 4th Quarter Regional Population Management Committee (RPMC) Meeting and Consultative Workshop was held at Days Hotel, Tagaytay City. The participants were warmly welcomed by Tagaytay City Vice Mayor Mok Ambion while Board Member Reinalyne V. Varias delivered the inspirational message on behalf of Governor Boying Remulla. The culminating activity included site visitation at Brgy. Neogan, Tagaytay City with Brgy. Captain Rey Espiritu sharing their best practice on Itaguyod Mo Tatay and Yaman ng Buhay (ITAY) program and city tour. (ANNA VIELA A. VIDALLON)
