In partnership with SM Supermalls, the Department of Science and Technology thru Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) kicked off the S&T Promotion and Exhibits at SM City Dasmariñas on April 29 through a short opening program and ribbon-cutting ceremony led by DOST-TAPI Director Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena, SM City Dasmariñas Mall Manager Ms. Edith R. Tayco, and Provincial Science and Technology Center-Cavite Director Gilda S. De Jesus.
The S&T promotion and exhibits project started in 2018 with the aim to create public awareness about the programs and services of DOST. Through S&T promotion and exhibits, the latest DOST technologies and innovations were featured and promoted. The project also sought to encourage adoption, commercialization, partnerships and thorough understanding of locally developed technologies.
Director De Jesus gave the opening remarks on behalf of DOST-CALABAZON Regional Director Emelita P. Bagsit. She mentioned that the DOST and SM collaboration was a big help to increase knowledge and awareness of the people on Science and Technology programs and services. This is in line with DOST’s aim to bring science closer to the society and communities consistent with the tag line “Science for the people”.
In closing, TAPI Director Decena hopes that the collaboration will firm up commitment in inventing and disseminating important technologies in the country.
Also present in the program were SM Marketing Officers, Ms. Angelica Casimiro, Mr. Angelo R. Topacio, and Mr. Richmod A. Hidero.
