ENHANCING AGRICULTURAL PROFESSION AS A NOBLE VOCATION

Being able to feed the community and bravely entered the arena of tight competition on vegetable production which provides diverse varieties of vegetables to the world class market, the members of the Magsasaka Siyentista on Vegetables, with the support from the provincial government of Cavite thru the Office of the Provincial Agriculturists and East – West Seed Co. Inc. proudly held the Harvest Festival at Joselito Tibayan’s Farm in Palangue 2 in the municipality of Naic on October 10, 2018 .

More than one hundred farmers from the municipalities of Magallanes, Indang, Tanza, Maragondon, and Naic and some representatives from various agricultural sectors came to the festivity to explore the farm with numerous shrubberies and crops. Mr. Joselito Tibayan who owns the two hectares of agricultural land, in which 1,500 sq meter was allotted for the East-West Seed project, conveyed that enhancing agricultural profession should be given emphasis as agrobusiness is a noble vocation. He conversed that the provincial government should continue to support their advocacy on farming and evade the conversion of the agricultural into industrial land.

With a sturdy disposition to cultivate the idle lands, Mr. Tibayan voiced out his eagerness to help his fellow residents in Naic and encouraged them that instead on working in industrial productions, they should focus on agricultural preservation and production. “Agricultural lands in our province has so much potential and thru the aid from different entities and organization such as East-West Seed, I believe that we can compete in the global market and can provide a decent job for our citizens. The locals from Naic should be more aware that financial stability can be improved by advocating agricultural products and they can pursue what they desire in life thru the help of farming.

Likewise, local officials from Naic including Councilor Max Dagasdas and Barangay Chairman Angeles Pegollo Jr. pledged their support to the agricultural sector and promised to initiate programs that will uplift the life of the farmers.

Representatives and officials of East-West Seed were also present during the gathering to communicate with the farmers and know their needs for future partnership as well as the representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, Philippine Statistics Authority, Office of the Provincial Agriculturists, Provincial Information and Community Affairs Department headed by Ms. Joann Loyola and other local and national stakeholders.
