PGC Celebrates Of Family Day 2018

The Provincial Government of Cavite thru the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in cooperation with the Cavite Migration and Development Office celebrated another successful Overseas Filipino Family Day at the Provincial Gymnasium in Trece Martires City on March 16, 2018.Ā  The event was attended by 209 Overseas Filipinos and their children from the Department of Education Divisions of Trece Martires City, Imus, DasmariƱas and Bacoor.
During the program, Ms. Fely ServaƱez, PSWD Officer & Cavite Overseas Filipino Welfare Council Secretariat welcomed and thanked all the participants who believe in the importance of spending quality time with family. Likewise, Engr. Efren C. Nazareno, Provincial Administrator for External Affairs encouraged the participants to temporarily set aside their problems and enjoy what was prepared for them for the whole day. Meanwhile, 6th District Board Member and Labor and Employment Committee Co-Chair Kherby Salazar stressed that the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Boying Remulla is doing its best to provide job opportunities for the OFs, for them to stay in the country with their families.
During the event, simultaneous activities were facilitated for parents and children at Ceremonial Hall and the Provincial Gymnasium. Value Formation for Children on Savings was discussed by Mr. Wilfred B. Quezon, Consultant/Persons with Disability Affairs.Ā  The children were educated on the importance of savings and what can they do to strengthen the ties between the members of the family despite the absence of their parents. On the other hand, Ms. Darylvy R. Avila, Social Welfare Officer IV tackled on the Positive and Negative Effects of Migration and Addressing Family Issues while Ms Maria Aurea D. Fuentes, Social Welfare Officer 1 conversed Human Trafficking specifically on Children. The parents realized the constructive and undesirable effects of migration to their families and figure awareness on child trafficking.
The event brought joy to the participants as they enjoy the fun-filled games and activities for the whole family. The over-all champions were Crisly Love Mauren and Lyka Mauren (Guardian/Aunt) from Carmona, 1st place was bagged by Kingslee Barba and Roselle Barba from Gen. Trias, Nina Paula Espiritu and Migs Inaki Bautista from Imus City and John Michael Penaverde and Mercy Penaverde from Carmona got the 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
Also present during the event were 7th District Board Member Reinalyn Varias, OIC, Provincial PESO Dr. Eva R. Defiesta, PYAP Provincial/Regional President Ben D. VeƱegas, members of the Migration and Development Council, Department Partners (PICAD, COPS, GSO), employees from PSWDO, guidance counselors, DepEd Trainers on Migration and Development and LGU Focal Persons.
