PGC LEADS BUNTIS CONGRESS IN MARAGONDON

The provincial government of Cavite through the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in coordination with the Cavite Medical Society facilitated the Buntis Congress in the municipality of Maragondon on January 10, 2020. Lectures on responsible parenthood and reproductive health was discussed by Dr. Eileen Cortes-Garcia emphasizing its importance and underscoring the significance of prenatal visit, nutrition during pregnancy, benefits of exclusive breastfeeding and family planning. Almost a hundred pregnant women from the municipality joined in the gathering and underwent HIV screening and testing.Ā  Ms Haydelisa Maderazo, Provincial HIV Program Coordinator tackled the topics and presented some data on HIV and conversed how it can be transmitted. An audio-visual presentation on family planning, breastfeeding and safe motherhood was also shown to increase consciousness among the mothers who were present at the event.Ā  Ms. Shiela Viola Maligalig Moreno, other personnel from the Rural Health Unit and employees from the local and provincial government were present to assist in the congress. Likewise, Maragondon Mayor Reynaldo Rillo was also in attendance affirming his commitment to support the advocacy of the provincial government on taking care of pregnant women and the eradication and prevention of HIV cases in the province.
