Showcasing national costumes, around 2,000 delegates dressed in vibrant outfits resembling the clothes of the member-countries of the United Nations attended the opening ceremonies of this yearās Cooperative Month celebration held on October 16, 2017 at the Provincial Gymnasium in Trece Martires City. The participants who joined the Provincial Cooperative Development Council (PCDC) in a colorful parade were welcomed by Provincial Cooperative Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Officer Alvin S. Mojica. He shared current facts about cooperatives and future developments that will be most advantageous to coopreneurs in the province; including the shared service facilities and mobile pasalubong shop.
During the program, Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region IV Legal Officer Atty. Owen P. Magdato delivered the opening remarks, citing the coop festivity as one way of showing strength of the cooperative movement and bringing economic growth to members in a modern bayanihan manner. Likewise, Atty. Magdato emphasized how 26,000 cooperatives in the country have been helping Filipinos secure income sources and creating around 500,000 jobs as stated by CDA Chairperson Orlando R. Ravanera.
Meanwhile, in behalf of Governor Boying Remulla, former GMA Vice-Mayor Rolando Alvaran delivered the solidarity address of the governor, commending fellow CaviteƱos for the active participation and exemplary performances in the coop movement. On the other hand, Engr. Ric Pallesco relayed the message of keynote speaker Senator Cynthia Villar, expressing continued support to cooperatives nationwide through the Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (SIPAG) Foundation.
Activities that made the event more vigorous and meaningful were cultural performances presented by delegates from different municipalities and cities in the province, trade fair and exhibit, and a blood-letting activity organized by the Cooperative Union of Cavite and the Philippine Red Cross.
Special awards and recognitions given to outstanding city/municipal development council in various categories commenced the program. Among the winners included Dr. Emmanuel Santiaguel as the Most Active Cooperative Leader;Ā Imus CCDC being the Outstanding Cooperative Development Council along with the award on having the biggest delegation in council uniform; the City Government of Imus hailed as the Most Supportive LGU;Ā Ā Sister Marinela Narvaez of DasmariƱas City as the Outstanding Cooperative Leader; EMI Employees Development Cooperative of Imus City as the Outstanding Large-scale Cooperative; Gardenia Kapit-Bisig Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Bacoor City) being the Best in Membership and Outstanding Medium-scale Cooperative; the Harmony Multi-Purpose Cooperative (DasmariƱas) as the Outstanding Small-scale Cooperative; and the Platinum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (DasmariƱas) being the Outstanding Micro-scale Cooperative and Best in Capital.
The Most Diversified Cooperative and Best in Assets awards went to OSPI Employees Multi-purpose Cooperative from Carmona; while the recognition for CDC who conducted Coop Day Celebration was awarded to Carmona MCDC.
Ka Rodring Camia delivered the closing remarks with message of appreciation to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of the Cavite Cooperative Month 2017 celebration.
