Product Clinic for Cavite MSMEs

A successful product clinic for food category was conducted by the Provincial Cooperative Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCLEDO) ā€“ Entrepreneurial Division on March 8, 2018 at the Cavite Cooperative Development Center at Trece Martires City to guide the micro entrepreneurs with potential products and provide professional advice for food development to enhance their production.

The project aims to identify the MSMEs productsā€™ weak spot, develop a better branding, packaging and labelling design, improve productā€™s sensory feature for food products , recommend or provide consciousness on technology for machineries and equipment and present awareness on Food and Drug Administrationā€™sĀ  guidelines on licensing and registration.

A simultaneous FDA orientation on food safety, product registration and licensing and product clinics were initiated during the event to inculcate understanding and raise their queries on appropriate guidelines on licensing and registration, as well as give ample time to entrepreneurs to present their products to the panelists to be evaluated based on their category. During the product clinics, the entrepreneurs were given a chance to present their products, ask the panellists on how they can improve it and seek for their recommendations and evaluations to enhance their product line.Ā  Panelists include Ms. Maria Elsa Maritana-falco, Supervising Science Research Specialist of Food Processing Division, ITDI-DOST; Mr. Alex Palomo, Science Research Specialist of FNRI,ITDI-DOST; Ms. Ranella Rejano, Science Research Specialist of Packaging Technology Division, ITDI-DOST; and Mr. Kevin Joseph Dizon, Science Research Specialist II of Packaging Technology Division, ITDI-DOST.

Meanwhile, Orientation on Food Safety was discussed by Ms. Cristian Grace Estimada, while Guidelines on Product Registration and Licensing were tackled by Ms. Pamela Marijo Rivera and Mr. Andrew De Los Angles, respectively.

Also present during the event were PCLEDO Head Alvin Mojica and Entrepreneurial Division HeadĀ  Liza Gabatan.
