Vet mission for rescued animals in full swing

Cavite Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Dr. May Magno together with a team of volunteers concluded the first leg of the Inter-agency Veterinary Mission on January 18, 2020 for animals affected by Taal volcano eruption.
One mission team headed by Dr. Magno went to Brgy. Zambal, Tagaytay City where they assessed the condition of 64 rescued horses from Taal. They likewise fed them with grass and feed concentrates, conducted vitamin supplementation, antibiotic injection as needed, Tetanus injection for wounded horses and IV fluid infusion for severely dehydrated and weak horses.Ā  Veterinary supplies, medicines, supplements and grass (kumpay) were also provided.
The other team led by Dr. Gloria Digma visited Brgy. Cabulusan in Magallanes where 300 rescued pets from Taal are temporarily sheltered. After clinical assessment and checkup of the pets, they also conducted deworming, antibiotic injection, wound treatment and IV fluids for sick and emancipated animals. Aside from the vet supplies, medicines, vitamins, electrolytes and dewormers, they also provided dog and cat food, food bowls, leash and cages.
Partners and volunteers who shared supplies and rendered services during the veterinary mission were from the Bureau of Animal Industry, Department of Agriculture Region 4A/Agricultural Program Coordinating Office (APCO), Imus, Bacoor and Cavite City Veterinary Offices, City/Municipal Agriculturists, Cavite State University-College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Cavite Veterinary Medical Association, Cavite Livestock, Poultry and Feedmillers Association Inc. (CALIPFAI), animal care industries, different private veterinary clinics and doctors, Ā concerned families and individuals and assisting offices from the provincial government.
